CLIENT JOURNEY TO EMPOWERMENT

  • Provide essential case management and social services to stabilize the client and household.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of legal status and begin processes to update or secure legal documentation.
  • Develop family emergency preparedness plans to ensure household safety.
  • Enroll clients in adult education programs, ESL and job training, for future job security.
  • Connect clients to the Workers Center for workforce readiness.
  • Deliver critical workers’ rights training for clients entering the workforce.
  • Engage clients in organizing and advocacy initiatives to address systemic oppression.
  • Develop community leaders who are active, self-reliant participants in the community.
  • Promote peer leadership within CRC, empowering clients to mentor and lead others.

Martha Carballo, born in Mexico arrived in 2001. Martha initially approached the Hispanic Resource Center of Larchmont & Mamaroneck in 2017 and received domestic violence prevention services in year 2017, after she was stabilized with case management services, she registered for Plazas Comunitarias to complete her middle school education where she worked hard to practice her Spanish education alongside her English classes, overtime she involved her children in our children’s enrichment programs and youth development. In 2018 when the Green Light Legislation was being considered, Martha became activated. She learned about the advocacy practice, she led community-wide petitions and stood in front of the Village of Mamaroneck Board of Trustees to plea for support resolutions. Immigrant drivers gain the right to drive regardless of legal status. Martha continues her organizing work but getting more involved in the Domestic Workers Groundbreakers program and We Rise Nanny Training. Today Martha has a wonderful and healthy home relationship, she is a raising her three sons alongside her partner, she owns her own car and drives to and from work and other daily activities, she joins us in statewide, county, and local legislative advocacy and has the ability to organize hundreds of families,  she is a top peer-to-peer domestic worker trainer for over 500 local domestic worker, she is an impressive baker and cook and is an entrepreneur in her own rite, Martha is a heart-led advocate.
